Who we are
St. Paul's Latin Indian Community Malta brings together Indian Catholics of the Latin Rite living across Malta, under the pastoral care of Fr. Damian Veliyil, OFM Conv.
Since its founding in 2022, the community has grown through regular Holy Mass, pastoral care, and shared celebration of faith and Indian heritage.
Our beginning
Every beautiful journey begins with a small step, a deep desire, and a strong faith.
St. Paul's Latin Indian Community Malta was born from the heartfelt desire of a small group of Indian faithful to have the Holy Mass celebrated according to the Latin Rite in Malta.
The initiative was supported and encouraged by Monsignor Dennis Kuruppassery, following the request of four or five devoted members of the community.
On 24 April 2022, the Feast of Divine Mercy, the first Holy Mass was celebrated at Mellieħa Chapel — the historic beginning of a spiritual journey that would gradually bring together more families and faithful from the Indian community in Malta.
With a special devotion to Mother Mary, the community continued to grow in faith, love, and fellowship. The celebration was led by Monsignor Dennis Kuruppassery together with Rev. Fr. Damian Veliyil, OFM Conv., serving at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, St. Paul's Bay.
What began with only a few faithful, through prayer, dedication, and perseverance, has grown into a united and vibrant community.
